Hello fellow team members,
I have been in contact with an Etsy employee regarding the quilt categories. A few months back, I had written a convo to an Etsy admin with some quilt info and I had mentioned that the categories were in need of restructuring. For example, there did not need to be a category for patch and trim. Etsy has since hired someone to clean up the categories and she contacted me for information and ideas about restructuring the category. I, of course, gave her my opinion and told her that I could post an article on our blog where any of the quiltsy team members, who had ideas or thoughts, could express them in the comments section. She thought that was a great idea.
I have forwarded the quiltsy blog address to her, so that she may read your comments and hopefully be able to make some wonderful and much needed changes to the category. So….feel free to add comments, if you have any ideas.

BIG Project!
This is definitely a BIG project! 5 quilted banners, each one 9 feet long and incompassing the work and enthusiasm of our talented team of quilters! Yes, it's been a challenge to coordinate, and we aren't done yet, but at last I have packaged up four sets of materials to be sewn together into the tops.
It started with a request to make 4 banners to hang as room dividers in the Etsy offices. Due to the logistics of the space they will hang in we had to change plans, so now are working on 5 banners. The first four will contain the letters ETSY and the fifth will say .com. All along the team has been enthusiastic and helpful toward the goal of getting this done and it's been a fun project, though a bit overwhelming at times.
This week I had to redraft the letters due to the size of the banners changing earlier, and also had to decide how to hang these - but thankfully came up with the plan of adding tabs with grommets to the finished panels when they are bound. Each center is made up of blocks pieced by quiltsy members that measure 14.5 x 28.5 inches. The borders will consist of blocks of 14.5 inches and the width of the border. There will be a tab with grommets for hanging every 6 inches at the top of each panel.
You can see pictures of the blocks (the final layout will be up to the volunteers!) on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21710614@N06/3805722727/in/pool-quiltetsy
Not the best pictures, but I didn't have too many options for laying these out, and gathered them into the sets for packaging as I was laying them out. It made me want to make a quilt out of tone on tone color, though because it looked fabulous with all these blocks laying out on my bed! What fun! Stay tuned for more info as the project goes into the final phase - the hope is to have these finished by the end of the month, but it's going to take some dedicated work to finish it off. I'm pretty sure we are up to it, but it's coming up fast!
