WIPs and Whatnot

I hope you all enjoyed celebrating Memorial Day with your family and friends! We had fun which included lots of food and drinks but not a bit of sewing! To be frank I’ve been in a sewing/blogging slump lately. I did do a bit of sewing and crocheting on Monday so I’m surely hoping the funk has lifted.

Voting for the Bloggers Quilt Festival ends on May 30th. Have you voted? Terry has 2 beautiful entries. So take a few minutes and go vote.

Don’t forget July 4th will be here before you know it. Any red, white and blue items you didn’t sell for Memorial Day you might want to start renewing. If you’re like me and never got your items finished, you should get to work. There are about 5 weeks until the 4th!

Today is Pats day to be pinned for the Pinterest promotion.

And lastly go check out Sheri’s shop she makes such  wonderfully unique items. Like this purse

Meet Up at Quilt Canada - May 2013

(left to right: Terry (TerryAskeArtQuilts), Kathy (KathyKinsella), Lynn (AbsolutelyObsessed), Ann (MagpieQuilts), Maxine (AbsolutelyObsessed)

Quilt Canada was held in Penticton, British Columbia this year and several members of the Quiltsy Team arranged to meet for lunch on Friday. It was a great opportunity to put a face to names that we had only previously known online and to get to know one another a little better. We had no difficulty finding topics of conversation as we talked about the incredible quilts in the show as well as the merits and pitfalls of selling our quilts in the Etsy marketplace. It should be no surprise that it felt like a get-together of old friends.

The National Juried Show was a feast for our senses, with a collection of ninety-two pieces entered in eight categories from traditional bed quilts to artsy wearable art. There was also a huge Invitational Show at the same location which provided us with even more inspiration as we oohed and awed over the pieces ... and then there was the fantastic Merchants' Mall.

Ah, bliss . . .

WIPs and Whatnot

Good Wednesday morning everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Mother’s Day. I did. DH made me a nice dinner and DD gave me one of her new paintings. It’s lovely.

And speaking of talent, there are so many talented Quiltsy members making beautiful quilts. Today I had to share this quilt made by Carol for her Etsy shop.

Isn’t it stunning and it’s queen sized!

Today I”d also like to share this blog post made by Bev (I hope she doesn’t mind) It’s really beautiful and I felt it needed to be shared.    http://sanctuaryweavings.wordpress.com/2013/05/14/184/

One more item to share. Last week Terry posted this quilt she made for SAQA Western Canada. She always does such amazing work.

I’m running a little behind today because the college student won’t let me get to bed at my normal time. I sure hope I’m able to do a bit of sewing today. How about you?

WIPs and Whatnot

I sure hope Spring has finally sprung in your neighborhood. I am glad to say it has here and I’m enjoying all the color! Pansies, tulips, apple blossoms, crabapples, pear trees, just lovely! Now I’m trying to use all that loveliness to inspire me in the sewing room.
There have been many, many lovely new items added to Quiltsy members shops this week, so it seems some of you have been inspired.
Last week Patricia inspired us with a quilt made with the rusted fabric technique she shared previously.

And Cynthia shared a wonderful frayed quilt technique

The end result is wonderful!
My apologies to Kimberly last week I forgot the link to her Etsy shop. You can view it here.
I’d love it if you’d link up and share what you’ve been doing.
