Quiltsy Cares - Catherine Moran Butt of MoranArtandQuilts

It is my pleasure today to introuce you to Catherine Moran Butt of MoranArtandQuilts.  Catherine's chosen charity is

"Touching Little Lives" http://www.touchinglittlelives.org/"Their mission is to make and distribute free of charge handmade items to preemie and needy newborns in Ohio."

She chose this charity because "A friend of mine just lost his grandchild who was born 2 weeks too early for them to be able to save. My heart went out to him as this was his first grandchild."

She will be donating a new warm flannel quilt that could be either for a girl or boy with lots of bright colors.

Catherine lives in Columbus, Ohio with her husband and two grown children and has been quilting since about 2004. She says. "I saw a quilted wall hanging in an art exhibit, loved it and so purchased my first quilt. That same quilt inspired me to teach myself how to make art quilts since I was already an artist painting mainly people, pets and homes."

She has been on Etsy since September of 2007 and was one of the co-founders of the Quiltsy Team. She told me this: "I never dreamed it would grow into the wonderful team it is today with so many supportive team members and who are generous enough to donate a quilt a day all this month! It is truly the best bunch of people I've ever met on line." I agree!

Her favorite thing to make in her Etsy shop: "It would have to be my art quilts. They satisfy the artist in me as well as being just plain fun to make! I love the whole process but designing as I go is my favorite way to make a quilt."

Wonderful charity and a pretty, cuddly quilt! How sad for your friend to lose that first grandbaby. I know the parents of the babies who receive the handmade items are comforted by these sweet gifts.
