Quiltsy Cares: Susan Funk from SusiQuilts

Today's featured Quiltsy member is Susan Funk of SusiQuilts. Susan lives in Menifee, CA, (southern California). The charity Susan chose to lift up through QuiltsyCares is Binky Patrol, a nationwide organization dedicated to providing blankets (called "binkies") to children in need of comfort.

Binky Patrol is very special to Susan because she was looking for a charity that would benefit children in her community. The Temecula, CA, chapter of Binky Patrol provides binkies to four local hospitals, a foster care organization, and the California Highway Patrol.

"The hospitals keep the binkies on hand in their emergency departments for children in need of comfort," explains Susan. "In one of the hospitals, binkies are also used in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The foster care organization gives binkies to children as they enter the foster care system. And the highway patrol carried them in their cars to use as needed in case of accidents or other calls involving children in need of comforting.

"I donated two small quilts, one for a boy and one for a girl," Susan adds. "They both have bright, fun colors."

Susan, who has been quilting for about 25 years, has been a member of the Etsy Quiltsy team for the past 5 years. Of all the quilting items Susan creates, her favorites are quilted table runners and toppers. "They are such a great way to decorate your home and change up for the seasons and holidays--the possibilites are endless!
