Welcome the kickoff of 31 days our Quiltsy Cares. Today is Karen Cregger from OneOakHandMade. Karen has made 6 quilts for her local chapter of Quilts For Kids. Quilts for Kids National organization has been around for several years, making quilts for kids in need, or in need of comfort from abuse or illness. They also send quilts to disaster areas or really anywhere there is a child in need. They also have kits you can order, make and send back and easy patterns on their website. http://www.quiltsforkids.org/
In January, some quilters in her area started a local chapter. If you have a local chapter, the quilts can be
distributed for kids locally and they felt there was a need in their hometown of Roanoke, Virginia.
Karen has a large children's hospital and many other centers and shelters that could benefit. The quilts
have to be made from new unused fabric, preferably kids prints, and are machine quilted for wash
and wear
Quilts for Kids provides quide lines and labels for all the quilts donated in order to assure a quality
item for the children. In January we were able to donate 6 quilts to the local Pediatric Unit.
Her 6 here will go with others for the Feb/March donation to the NICU and Pediatric Post op.
These quilts are quick and fun to make using kid prints and new fabric donations. Karen provides all the long
arm quilting for the group and does most of the binding (machine!)
Her chapter is open for donations if anyone has any kids print scraps they want to be rid of!!
