Today's Quiltsy Cares charity donation comes from Judith Messenger of FabriArts. Judith lives in Toronto, Canada and donated 2 quilts to Quilts of Valour, Canada.
What is your charity:
Quilts of Valour, Canada
Quilts of Valour Canada supports injured
Canadian
Armed Forces members, past and present, with quilts of comfort. I started making quilts for
injured Canadian
Armed Forces members back in 2008 and our group became an
official part of
Quilts of Valour Canada
a few years later. By
the end of 2017, QOVC
had already surpassed the goal of "10,000 quilts donated by
2018".
Why is your charity special to you?
I appreciate all that our armed forces
members do. It is
touching to read the impact that
receiving a quilt can have on the recipients.
What did you donate and any special details about it:
So far this year, I've completed two quilts
for QOVC. The first,
Canadian Wave II, was made as part
of the "Canada
150" Challenge at Quilts at the Creek (an outdoor quilt show at
Black Creek Pioneer Village
in Toronto)
this summer. It is my
original design (I
made a similar one for QOVC in 2015). Quilt a few of the quilts
that were made for the challenge were donated to QOVC at the end
of the show!
