Quiltsy Cares featuring Lynn Meadows of lyndalou

Today we are featuring Lynn Meadows - her Esty shop is lyndalou.  Lynda's donation is for the Middle Tennessee Chapter of Project Linus, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide homemade blankets to children in need.

Lynn feels it is important to give back to the community and she loves being able to use her talent for quilting to provide the comfort a handmade quilt provides to the children Project Linus serves.

Here is what she told me about this quilt.  "I am donating a quilt made from some soothing cotton pastels and white in a modern design by Hunter’s Design Studio."

Lynn says about her start in quilting,  "I’ve been doing needlework of all kinds since I was a kid.  I learned to formally sew on a sewing machine from my grandmother in the summer between the 8th and 9th grade and later learned to quilt the “old fashioned” way from my mother in law’s mother and I taught myself how to machine quilt because I just didn’t have the patience for hand quilting.  I have a full time job in the healthcare industry and find that quilting is my therapy for the stresses that come with life, and know that I can just zen out while knitting or crocheting.  One of my greatest joys is to have passed on the sewing and needlework bug to one of my two grown daughters."

Lynn lives in Nashville, Tennessee and has been quitling for nearly 30 years.  She has been a member of Quiltsy Team for nearly 6 years.

What does she like to make best in her Etsy shop?  "My favorite things to make in my shop has been my wholecloth quilts because the design and quilting are the star of the piece and there is something special happening when the design begins to appear during the quilting process on just the layered plain fabric and batting; I find the simplicity of this type of quilt to be exquisitely elegant and traditional.

Thanks, Lynn for your donation, and for telling us about it!
