One of the highlights of our month of Quiltsy Cares post is seeing the different ways our members make a big difference in their communities. Today's quilter is Karen - her shop is Monkey Muffin. Here is what she has to say about her donations:
My name is Karen and I live in Sioux Falls, SD.
I am fortunate to belong to a group that serves the needs of the Lakota people of the Pine Ridge Reservation in southern South Dakota. 97% of the families of Pine Ridge live below the poverty level. Unemployment is 85%.
This year, I was able to provide 24 pillow cases as well as school supplies, art supplies, and books to the children of Pine Ridge.

Quiltsy Cares March 13-Karen Walters
Our Quiltsy Cares charity donation for today is from Karen Walters of MonkeyMuffin. Karen's charity donation was for the Thomas Fires Victims. Karen not only made and donated 4 Perkimon Valley blocks and 4 pillowcases, she also sent 5 quilt backings. Karen also organized and collected all the donations from the Quiltsy team and sent them on to superbuzzy .
When asked why Karen answered "Supporting the victims of the Thomas Fire is important because anyone's life can change in an instant. Although our Quiltys team is spread over the world, we were able to come together and support the victims of the Thomas Fire in the best way we know....with the warmth of a quilt.
